Who is eligible to join the Daughters of the British Empire?

Membership is extended by invitation to women residing in the US who are British or British Commonwealth heritage by birth, naturalization or ancestry. 

Women can also qualify through their husband’s ancestry. Their husbands need to be British or British Commonwealth born or whose ancestry goes back to parents or grandparents.

Junior Members

DBE has recently gained a new membership category. Girls age 13-18 are eligible to become members in the chapter in which their family member or guardian is a current member. Upon turning 18 these members become full members and are then eligible to hold an office.
